The Original

Posted by : Jon Clausen

In an e-mail exchange the other day with a friend, he asked me about the silhouette that is used at the top of blog design that is also used for the comment icons (aka - Gravatars) used on Lateral Lines.

The silhouette is taken from the first recorded image of me in any sort of fishing-related context. It's from picture of myself and my late Grandpa Clausen on the pier of their house on Lake Kampeska, near Watertown, SD.

My dad took the picture and, over the years, it has become an iconic image for me of my childhood for many reasons. In case you are curious, here's the original:

That's fabulous! What a wonderful tribute to your grandpa. Much nicer than stock photos, which, I admit, i assumed yours was. Thanks for giving us the 'real' story.
